***For Zira and any of her cubs who might feel like dropping by.***
Stardust
Rogue Band Lioness
Stardust lay in the shade of some deep brush, escaping the day's heat and waiting for dusk to deepen and cool the landscape for her walk home. As she reclined the lioness thought back on her past, present, and possible future. She was a middle aged lioness now. This did not bother Stardust. Her life so far had been full of enough conflict, sorrow, and joy, to fill several lifetimes. The white creature was still young enough to have another litter or two before she was to old to risk it, but Stardust had no intention to do so.
Five children by birth, three by blood, and another seven or so by adoption. Those were the impressive numbers Stardust claimed as her own. Out of all her 'children' only two had been lost to death...and that had been her stillborn daughter Vespera...and Harbringer, a lion who had called her mother at times and had fallen to his death due to an accident. Seraphim, Seraphina, and Starfire all sought out new lives in other lands but they had left healthy and whole as adults. Solitaire had vanished in his adolescence, and this bothered her greatly...but his father vanished at the same time and Stardust prayed that meant the two of them were together. Two of her birth children remained in Starlight, her grown son from her first litter Solstice, and her teenage son from the second Stormshadow. Time would tell if Stormshadow remained after reaching adult hood, or if any of her grand-cubs who she raised as her own remained by her side.
All these thought on cubs and her history with them took a turn when a lioness she once knew drifted into her thoughts. What had become of Zira she wondered? The lioness she had been friendly with, the one who she had protected along with her large litter of cubs when the family was 'captured' during a raid on their old pride? Stardust had done her best to look out for Zira and her family when she was Consort and then Queen of the ridge, but after her demotion and then theft into another pride.....so much time had passed.
Stardust lost track of that family. And by the time she could return to Mystal...not one of them still remained there. Had Zira found her missing mate and sons? Had she found a new home, was she happy? The white lioness regretted not knowing these things. She regretted every lost or missing friend or child she had lost touch with. And she wondered if fate would allow her any reunions before it was her turn to join her parents up among the stars.

Zira
Carrlin Vale Lioness
Zira needed time to herself, to do some thinking and just to see if an old friend or two were out. The jungle of Carrlin did have some shade, so she waited until dusk to escape her den for a while. Her life had its ups and downs, but it seemed more downs then ups. The light auburn lioness did have time for another litter, but yet she didn't want another, the only one who could ever love her enough to give her cubs once more was dead, so she didn't want another litter.
She had nine childen, six by birth and three by adoption, but yet one of her birth children was already dead, but she hadn't a clue about her adopted children. She lost one by death, her mate by death, but her adopted, not a clue; Schiavona, Scimitar, and Taramya. Though Scimitar had came back, but then left again. She wasn't sure of her other children, Tara and Sciavona. She was thankful though for the fact Charlie, one of her birth children had visited her, so she knew she and Nala were safe. But Tobias, she saw his dead body.
She was walking along in the dusk as it became dark. She sighed to herself. Carrlin was a great pride, her son Leo, her youngest daughter Maria and her brother Kai lived there with her. Zira gazed around with her green flicks of gold eyes. Her wandering eyes stopped to the white lioness.
"Stardust?" Her words came out in a questioning for she wasn't sure it was her. She came closer to the lioness and stopped just a few feet from her.

One black fringed ear flicked absently as faint sounds registered. It could have been the dry grass rustling, or a small animal scurrying around. So at first Stardust didn't pay to much attention due to being lost in her thoughts. But the sound got more noticeable and soon had a scent to go along with it. Pulling herself back to the 'here-and-now' the white lioness lifted her head and glanced at Zira in shock as the other lioness approached. It was like magic. Think about it and she will appear! Stardust was unused to such luck, but she wasn't going to not use it when it landed in her paws. Quickly the lioness shifted and lifted herself up onto all four paws, pale blue-purple eyes brightening with friendly welcome. Her ears perked forward Stardust gave a couple of quick affirmative nods in response to Zira's question.
Yes, it was Stardust. And standing would make that fact even more obvious, the white lioness had even more scars now that she once had...making her the most 'decorated' veteran white lioness in Starlight. And the only mute one as well. Stardust tried to stand still and wait for Zira to respond, but the joy in her spirit was impossible to mask completely and Stardust kept shifting from front paw to front paw almost as if dancing in place a little bit! A day that had been somber at best had just taken a sharp turn for the better. Even if it was only a brief distraction, anything that took her mind off of darker events and the current drought was a mercy.

Her black tip ears could probably be mistaken for brush, or something dead blowing in the wind, for these days it seemed that was all that was around because of the drought that was amoung them. The lioness watched as she stired to her voice that called out to the one she named. She smiled as she was glad it was an old friend from the past. It was funny how someone you would think about would just appear out of no where.
Zira was happy it was an old friend, one who helped her with most of her cubs that were now grown. Zira took a few steps closer or more as she neared the distance between them. "How have you been? Its been too long!" She paused. "Abra came back a while ago, blessed me with two grown cubs and then went to get revenge on those who took TObias from us." Her voice sounded saddened. "A while ago I went with a member of Carrlin to see where Tobias was, and he was in the Rogue band, dead." Her voice serious of what happened to Tobias. She wasn't sure if Stardust knew what happened to the two missing family members, but the news was the news, and Stardust should get the update on her family. "Everyone else as far as I know are doing well, Leo is trying to find a mate, and my youngest daughter Maria has been crowned Queen of Carrlin." She gazed at Stardust. "Oh and her littermate, Kai, looks almost like Abra." She smiled softly at her. The drought kept her mind off the worst parts of her life, for the drought seemed to be the worst as of now, but things were realy starting to look up for her family.

The onslaught of questions was a welcome one. As she could not speak it was easiest for others in her conversations to do the bulk of the communicating. A good listener, Stardust still managed to be fully involved in events without having to resort to speech. Often her body language was sufficient to give responses to questions or comments. And when that failed she could always mouth her words out carefully if the other person was skilled enough to read lips even a little bit. Stardust let Zira close the distance between them. It was better for Zira to come into the shade, then for Stardust to leave it.
Stardust returned to a sitting position as she listened to Zira and thought about what she was hearing. How has she been? Stardust smiled and shrugged slightly. She had better, but she had also been much worse off too...so no complaints at the moment. The white lioness glared at the sun for a second and then looked back at Zira with a long suffering look.....she could do without the heatwave that was for sure! Stardust agreed with the comment 'its been to long', by nodding her head slightly. The news about Abra first caused her to smile with joy for her friend, but soon it turned to a worried frown. Revenge? That never ended very well, even when it ended the way you wanted it to. And if Abra had been gone long enough for her to birth and raise cubs to full adult hood....it was a safe bet that the lion was not going to return to Zira in this lifetime.
So, someone had taken Tobias after all? Stardust remembered the big issue when he first went missing. She spent many days searching for ether Abra or Tobias....but never found any trace of them. Well not until Tobias showed up several months ago in Mystal looking for an alliance between the band and the ridge. Tobias had not returned afterward, or at least he had not as far as she knew. Stardust had been stolen to Mirratt, and then won by Calcifer and taken to the cliffs. By the time she arrived in the Cliffs there was no sign of the tailless lion. Stardust nodded slightly, most of her smile faded by the time the word 'dead' removed the rest of it from her maw. He was dead? HOW? Her mind went over the last time she had seen him, happy and healthy looking...optimistic after finding one of his siblings again. Stardust looked intently at Zira, her eyes begging the question of 'How and why' when it came to Tobias's death.
Stardust would return to responding to the rest of the news in a moment, but first, she wanted this explained a little if possible. She had been fond of that young lion, and wanted to know how he came to his end...

She gazed to her as she answered her with a shrug. She smiled at the answer she got. She entered under the shade to be under it instead of out of it into the sun where she was. So many bad things happened to her, Her mate was watching them, in spirit now, and so was Tobias. She couldn't wait to join them in the spirit world.
She didn't know that her son was in Mystal for an allience, she wasn't even in Mystal when Tobias visited, she was in Carrlin. "I don't know how or even why, maybe who ever was in the band with him didn't like his ideas or wanted to finish the job from when he was cubnapped." She was saddened, she didn't know who or why or how her second oldest was killed. "I don't know, i wish I did know, Abra knew but he didn't tell me before he got revenge on Tobias' cubnappers, but I think it was after Abra went to get revenge." She didn't know who wanted her son dead, or even who killed him or her mate, but she wished she did.
She gazed to her friend. "I don't really know where Schiavona, Scimitar, or Taramya are, but Scimitar did find me then left." She smiled.
